About

Humble Beginnings in a Stroller
The story of Cedar Hills began many years ago when I was only 20 years old. If you glanced through my apartment window, you would find a young mom working hard to get through college while holding a baby on her lap. Each day was scattered with quiet moments of studying textbooks and completing as much homework as I could while the baby was sleeping. It was a regular occurrence to be pushing my baby in a stroller on campus to meet with a study group, armed with diapers, fish crackers, and baby toys.  Sometimes, I questioned if I could even finish school. Would I be able to continue this marathon of juggling my schedule with my husband’s, taking care of my baby and doing mountains of homework?  Although this period of my life was a stressful time, it was also a time of joy! I loved learning about Epidemiology, Microbiology, Nutrition, International Politics, and so many other subjects that helped me to learn and grow. I realized that the main goal of Public Health was about empowering people through knowledge or access to adequate nutrition and healthcare.

A Spark Ignited
Fast forward five years, and you would see a now-graduated mom toting 3 kids around. Each morning at my daughter’s playground,  I would visit with the other moms while we dropped our kids off for school. Every day, I noticed one mom who didn’t visit, but rather stood off to the side by herself.  I soon realized that she did not speak English. Using my simple Spanish that I learned in college, we forged a friendship that provided this wonderful woman with a connection that she badly needed. This life-changing moment accentuated how important human connection is, and sparked a ripple effect that sent me on a long journey to Spanish fluency while raising my 3 kids, volunteering at many nonprofits, and lastly, the Launch of Cedar Hills Grant Writing. It is through this company that I bring my passion for human connection to life by assisting nonprofit organizations in getting the funding they need through helping them in the grant-writing process. This objective is further detailed in the 3 focus areas listed below of areas we get excited about.

Public Health

We are passionate about public health because it addresses real-world problems that improve lives. The main focus of public health is to: Protect health, prevent disease, and promote well-being for all communities.
At its core, it’s about empowering people with the knowledge, tools, and opportunities to lead healthier, longer, and more fulfilling lives.

Empowered Learning

Education and music are both powerful forces that shape and enrich our lives. Stimulating a deeper view of the world that increases understanding of ourselves and others. They dont just provide skills but provide gateways to opportunity, empowerment, and lifelong personal and professional growth.

Global Awareness

Mahatma Gandhi said, “A nation’s culture resides in the hearts and in the souls of its people.” There is no better way to understand a people and their needs than to become immersed in their culture and language. With language learning experience, with both Spanish and Mandarin, we strive to connect hearts and stories through our writing
